Battle for supremacy in the Inner Sphere at the Alpha Strike Open Championships, Michigan GT’s premier BattleTech Alpha Strike single-player tournament!  Using the Alpha Strike Open ruleset, an easy to learn but tactically challenging tournament format, each player will bring a 400PV force, from any single faction and any single era, for four rounds of heavy metal mayhem.  Whether you’re shooting for our Best MechCommander or Best BattleForce awards, or just looking to have a good time playing games with the Lords of the Inner Sphere’s battlefields, the most important rule of the Alpha Strike Open Championships is Have Fun!

Event Rules

Rules: Download the Alpha Strike Open Tournament Rules Pack, containing the event essentials, force construction, and missions, from this link: https://tinyurl.com/yeypa3tm  This rules pack is subject to revision, however, no major changes will be made after August 10.

Army Lists: Army lists are due September 21, and may be uploaded to Best Coast Pairings (preferred) or emailed to __________.Army lists should include the full name, PV cost, and skill of each unit, along with the list’s faction and era. Early list submission is encouraged! 

We will be using Best Coast Pairings to administer the tournament. To set up a free Best Coast Pairings account, go to https://www.bestcoastpairings.com/. With your account, you will be able to view pairings and submit game results through the BCP app.   

Pairings: Players will be paired randomly in Game 1. In subsequent rounds, players will be paired based on win record and then randomly.

·       8:00 AM - Check In / Appearance Judging

·       8:45 AM - Starting announcements

·       9:00 AM - Game 1

·       11:15 AM - Lunch / Appearance Judging / Player’s Choice Voting

·       12:00 PM - Game 2

·       2:15 PM - Break

·       2:30 PM - Game 3

·       4:45 PM - Break

·       5:00 PM - Game 4

·       7:15 PM - Break

·       7:30 PM - Awards

Sportsmanship

Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.  Basically - treat your opponents as you would hope to be treated.  Players will generally receive a yellow card for a first sportsmanship violation as a warning.  Repeated or serious violations will result in a red card, which will mean, at minimum, forfeiture of any awards or prizes, and may result in being removed from the event.  Judge’s decisions are final. 

Awards

Our main awards will be:

·       Best MechCommander: highest battle points total, ties broken by wins, then win path, and PV destroyed. 

·       Best BattleForce: highest theme/appearance score, ties broken by player’s choice votes

There will also be other awards and prizes for various achievements throughout the event! But regardless whether you win, lose, or draw, don’t forget that the most important rule of the Alpha Strike Open Championships is to Have Fun!
